It Lies Beyond is the new art exhibit at Volte Art Projects in Dubai. Acclaimed Pakistani artist Rashid Rana uses digital media to explore perceptions of scale and mingles small and large imagery to create a mural that surprises and intrigues. This monumental art installation spans 400-square-meters and depicts a serene seascape. On closer inspection, we see that the seascape is made up of 90,000 tiny images of trash, "symbolizing the carbon footprint of humans on this planet." The artist has been collecting these images since 2006 in an effort to bring awareness to the ocean’s neglect and pollution. The installation also has an Augmented Reality element—the viewer can scan a small image to see an animated video.
This immersive mural was printed and installed by Wallart Designs, a company specializing in innovative printed interiors focusing on sustainability and high-quality printing. They use PVC-free HP Large Format Wallcoverings for their décor solutions, which help them meet their environmental goals.
It Lies Beyond was printed on HP Non-woven Durable Suede Wall Paper,* a PVC-free alternative that carries the CE and UKCA environmental certifications. It also has the EN233 extra washability rating (wave 3) for tough durability in an environment subject to wear and tear.
“We like the sustainable aspects of HP Wallcovering products; they are easy to install, super durable, scrubbable, and print vibrant colors. We love this material,” says Naveed Ahmad, Project Manager at Wallart Designs.
Wallart also used HP PVC-free Durable Suede Wall Paper in many projects, including the pediatric center at Mediclinic Middle East.
The recent En Fuego Restaurant project won the Silver Award for Fespa Printeriors in 2023. The project used the HP PVC-free Durable Suede Wall Paper, which meets health requirements for food service environments.
